SP is wherever you happen to be photography, shot with any lens or film and done without disturbing the pictures content.
As she lunged towards me, I guess I stumbled back a step or two. I was shooting at a 60th of a second and at that speed any movement will render an image mushy. I still think the emotion of the moment survived the motion of my retreat…

I’m not sure where I was when I came upon these kids. I took very few pictures of people on my cross country trip and wish I had been more aggressive in that dept…I was feeling like a stranger in a strange land, having never left New York for more than a few days. The negatives from this trip were sitting around collecting dust for the past nineteen years and I finally took them out a few weeks ago. Turns out that there were plenty of shots that were decent enough to scan and I suppose the trip was much more successful than I had thought. Maybe it’s just the passage of time which has a way of making certain pictures seem more special than they really are…

I got lucky and timed it just right. His camera’s extremely powerful strobe went off at the exact same moment I pushed the button on my Leica. I sometimes wonder if my camera is capable enough when compared to the “Hasselblads” of the world, but this guy reminded me that it’s not the camera, but the man who makes the pictures!
