Park Ave. north of 96th Street has always been a different world, but at one point it was as run down as any street in Manhattan…

Photographing NYC for 25 years, six of them while driving a New York City taxi. Trying very hard to capture the city as life unfolds, meaning I never stage any of my photos! Also I am a close confidant of the immortal Dave Beckerman, (quintessential NYC photographer) and owner of the first photography blog in the known universe.

Hey Matt…just an FYI…there’s a b&w photography exhibit of Harlem currently at the Chicago Art Institute. Looking forward to seeing it next weekend. If it’s a traveling exhibit, chances are it’s already been or perhaps will be coming to NYC. There’s also an amazing book recently released entitled Harlem that features photos from the 30-70s I believe.
Hard to believe your photo was taken in the 80s. Is that considered prime real estate these days?
