On a few occasions I’ve seen this fellow making deposits of his day’s take. He meticulously counts every penny and then brings his “$73.62” to the teller. I’m sure he’s not the only homeless person who has somehow set up a bank account, but according to the guy running the newsstand on the same corner, he’s saved over $200,000! I hope that’s true…

Photographing NYC for 25 years, six of them while driving a New York City taxi. Trying very hard to capture the city as life unfolds, meaning I never stage any of my photos! Also I am a close confidant of the immortal Dave Beckerman, (quintessential NYC photographer) and owner of the first photography blog in the known universe.

A really interesting contradiction when you compare his appearance and how the streets reflect in the window of an establishment that represents money/power.
Its as if the streets follow him wherever he goes.
This man looks like a documentary waiting to happen…or at least a photo exposé.
I too hope he has $200,000 in the bank. Although in Manhattan, that converts to $2,000 these days. 🙂
His story is worth telling, although I expect he’d be pretty shy at first…
