I use to drive my taxi up to Harlem in the morning and look for things to shoot. This picture is one of my favorites.

Photographing NYC for 25 years, six of them while driving a New York City taxi. Trying very hard to capture the city as life unfolds, meaning I never stage any of my photos! Also I am a close confidant of the immortal Dave Beckerman, (quintessential NYC photographer) and owner of the first photography blog in the known universe.

That’s a great shot. I wonder if the Riverton Hotel or Lucky Chinese Restaurant still exist?
Thanks for sharing,
Chris
Thanks Chris…I doubt it, but maybe the restaurant does, the majority of the neighborhood has been gentrified…
Looks a little bit run down… 😉 Nice picture! /J
A triangle within a triangle. Nice. 🙂
You win a prize for reading the picture’s secret ingredients!
Cool! I’ll take any prize I can get! 🙂
The first time I looked at it, I didn’t see it. But when I went back for a second look, it seemed so obvious.
I know what you’re saying though, Matt. I love when people understand why I took a particular photo. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s as if you’ve finally found someone who speaks your language….so to speak. 🙂
At last a second language…I failed Spanish & Latin!
Stark, perfect and lonely.
