  1. Hey Matt. I like your subway series a lot. Just wondering how you go about capturing these. From the angle of this one anyway, it looks like you’re shooting from the neck? (i.e. camera strap around your neck?) Or are you framing these and actually putting camera to eye? Such a confined space, I think I’d have trouble with that myself. Just curious about your method, because it obviously works!

  2. I rarely shoot blind. The results are normally not worth it. I was sitting across from the two passengers and I also have to focus to guarantee a sharp picture. At F 1.4 the DOF is almost nil…

  3. I agree with what you say about shooting blind… it is usually a waste of film for me as well even though I am pretty good about guestimating distance. By the way, I notice a slight warm tone to your picture but a little desaturation in the the two men’s faces. Intentional?
    Good picture, as always.

  4. If I do convert a file to RGB it is usually to add a amateurish sepia tone to the image. I’m not that good with color yet, and I don’t fret over tiny color shifts. I do try and make sure everything else is up to snuff… I’m just happy if a image holds its own!

  5. I don’t know. I play each situation according to what makes the most sense and with only one exception, I’ve avoided a bad confrontation…
One time I did find myself praying that two guys wouldn’t hurt me…and I don’t believe in prayer.
