I use to sit on my stoop and watch my neighbors run to catch the crosstown bus which left every five minutes. I know I’ve said this too many times, but not being one of these clock punching workers is one of the things I am very grateful for…

Photographing NYC for 25 years, six of them while driving a New York City taxi. Trying very hard to capture the city as life unfolds, meaning I never stage any of my photos! Also I am a close confidant of the immortal Dave Beckerman, (quintessential NYC photographer) and owner of the first photography blog in the known universe.

good shot Matt! She’s checking you out because I know that shutter on your camera is quiet!
I see people running for the bus all the time and there aren’t many things you can see in a city that are funnier. That and people running to catch the green light at crosswalks. This is something I never understood. The buses come every 5 minutes. It takes about a minute until the streetlight will turn green again.
It goes back to being late for school. Showing up for work at 8:59 am is better than 9:01 I guess…
Exactly as Matt said above.
I can’t tell how many times I’ve been late all because I missed a bus that would appear in 5-10 minutes again. Of course, this shows that I’m often irresponsible.
The buses still run in groups and then leave big gaps in their schedules. The crosstown buses are better,as far as being on time…
Yeah. Especially, oh god especially, the M11 (and the M7 sometimes).
It’s always late (I’ve checked the MTA website to be sure). And when it does arrive, it’s usually ingroups of 2-3.
Yes, but the worst was the #5 which leaves one stranded on Riverside Drive during the dead of winter!
