I remember this so well, I spent part of 1984 living in the Washington Jefferson Hotel on 51st St, $49 a week. I remember a few years later when working in Worldwide Plaza the African phone card thieves, who would sell calls home across the street from here at the pay phones on the east side of 8th Avenue. I remember seeing on of the guys with binoculars in Grand Central Station watching a commuter enter his phone credit card.
