Cameo was born as the Ideal – Demolished ten years ago as the Playpen peepshow & XXX. I used to go in there just to look at the scenery – for real – it had amazing ornate details, angels with decades of paint. It was easy to see how it looked nearly a century ago. Terrible that it was taken away. Now a Shake Shack, long lines & over-priced tourist food. Smith’s restaurant & Bar in the background is still there – a neighborhood friend told me that in the mid-80s a cop went into Smith’s, sat down quietly and blew his brains out. Thank you for saving this moment!
