I want you to enjoy my galleries of street photography without getting lost. There are many different galleries with subjects you can peruse. If you you are interested in Subway photos there are plenty of images which show the NYC subway system in all its "splendor" Maybe you want to see some pictures of Harlem when it was still Harlem. You can leave comments if you feel so inclined. Most images can be purchased as signed  ptints for your collection.  "The Urban Prisoner" (Shown on the left) is my first monograph, published in 2004 by Sanctuary Books. Introduction by Ben Lifson. There are still some copies available for purchase. Please inquire about licensing my images for documentary use. Blu-Ray quality files (or 4K) are available for any project you may be working on…Thanks!

  1. It came around that time of the school semester to write a paper about a photographer who inspires us. With everything I’ve seen of yours it was not even a hesitation on who to write about.

  2. Matt, you have one of the deepest catalogs of images i have ever seen. What you have, and will continue to post, is a treasure trove of NYC images that is an inspiration to anyone who stops by, and a legacy for the ages. I’m always amazed by the images that I’ve never seen before.

  3. Matt, your book is wonderful, but only hints at the depth and breadth of your images. Your twenty-five plus years of consistent hard work is a gift to all who appreciate fine documentary photography.

  4. Just stumbled across your site and it is really the most amazing collection of street photography I’ve seen other than looking back on some of the famous photogs.

I’m going to recommend it to my friends.

  5. Hi, I was sent your link on facebook by a friend of mine. Loving your photography – I love the reality of your photos 🙂

  6. You have long been an inspiration of mine since the first time I saw your website (more than a year ago). The depth and artistry of your images is simply topnotch. I can even still remember my reaction when I saw your ‘perfect kiss’ shot.. my mouth was left agape. Thank you for the inspiration.

  7. Danny, You shoot in a country where one must be very careful of every ordinance. I have broken almost every law I can think of at one point. I’m proud of all the progress you’ve made in your career under such conditions!

  8. Hi, I’m used to come on your blog to see your pics but never put a comment. I’m french and my english is not excellent ..
Your beautiful photos of NY help me to wait for the next trip in this town that I really love.
I made a little post on my blog about you.
    Isa.

  9. hi im doing digital photography at school and i decided to do my info page on you. i love your photography but i need to write down some info about you but i cant find any so could you please tell me some
when and where you were born?
    who were your influences?
what school you went to and were you studied?
    and some general information thanks.

  10. Sometime you are watching a picture you like and you cannot explain why.
Street Photography is one of my favorites – have it in my collection – braking few walls myself. Love your work.

  11. Hi Matt,

I just saw MORE THAN THE RAINBOW in San Francisco with Dan, John, my family and friends. It was a really nice screening and I really enjoyed the film. How did you feel about the film? Thanks for sharing your photography and your life with us. I look forward to more of your shots. Sending lots of good energy your way.

    -Marcin

  12. Marcin, Obviously you and Arlene did wonders with that old Arriflex! Dan also surpassed my wildest expectations with how he assembled all the footage, stills and music
into a very nice film. I hope you get a lot of offers for some interesting films, since you are very talented and also a very nice guy! Matt

  13. Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I
could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest
twitter updates. I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.

  14. Matt… your photographs are stunning. Captivating and unique. I love what you are doing, but I have to be honest. Your website sucks on a mobile device. I would like to help you with this. Interested? Let me know. You have my email .

  15. My spouse and I stumbled over here different website and thought
I may as well check things out. I like what I see so i am just following you.
Look forward to looking at your web page repeatedly.
