  1. Classic! Wish I could say I actually rode in one of the old checker cabs, but films will have to suffice.

I discovered online today that a movie theater in Chicago showed a new print of Taxi Cab last month! I’ve never seen the film and it’s on my DVD list of films to see. I wanted to cry when I visited the theater’s web site and realized I was several weeks too late to see the film on the BIG screen.

Just a warning Matt…you’d better get the old style hot dogs in NYC while you can:

  2. Greg, I think you mean Taxi Driver with Robert Deniro but anyway that film will always be around in one form or another. As far as the hotdogs go,
I’m surprised to see mayor Bloomberg in so many of those pictures. He has been trying to outlaw all sorts of dangerous things lately!

  3. Loved the Checkers when I was a tyke. I remember making mom wait for an available one to pass by.
It was all about the folding “rumble” seats for a kid. Imagine that set-up nowadays!?

  4. Lesson learned. Never blog just before going to bed.

“Taxi Driver” is indeed the name of the film I’ve never seen, but hope to see on the big screen one day.

It supposedly has amazing shots of early 1970s NYC.

  5. Yes everybody loved the Checkers Todd…Greg don’t sweat the typo, just try and see the film on a large flatscreen if you can’t see it in a theater…It has some great footage of old New York!
