I recently read an autobiography called City Boy where the author discusses life in Greenwich Village in the 1960s and 70s.
Like the rest of Manhattan, it’s much safer today, but perhaps not as exciting. 🙂
I wonder how many stories the man in your pic had back in the 80s if he’d spent any significant time in the Village at the point.
This is very cool. At first glance I thought it was Vincent Gardenia.
All the “oldtimers” in my “old” photos lived during the depression and WW II. I assume they would have taken many great tales to their graves…
