Photographing NYC for 25 years, six of them while driving a New York City taxi. Trying very hard to capture the city as life unfolds, meaning I never stage any of my photos! Also I am a close confidant of the immortal Dave Beckerman, (quintessential NYC photographer) and owner of the first photography blog in the known universe. View all posts by Matt Weber

I’ve been to NYC seven times now and have yet to venture out to Coney Island.
Any words of encouragement, Matt?
When I think of Coney Island, the film “The Warriors” comes to mind. Coincidentally, a local university just had a free showing of the film. I was excited about seeing it on the big screen…and for free! 🙂
It was fun seeing the 1970s NYC that I wish I would have had the opportunity to have seen in my lifetime. But my father obviously thought places like South Dakota were more conducive to our upbringing. (Wrong!) 🙂
The Warriors is a cult classic in New York…Coney is the exact opposite of The Hamptons…If you want serene then the Hampton Jitney is waiting for you.
Coney is an adventure on any busy summer afternoon.
Of course the powers that be are chipping away at Coney’s character one brick at a time…
