I could go on a long diatribe about how much I despise the new smoking law that Mayor Bloomberg is about to impose on New Yorkers, but I won’t. He may have changed the law to get re-elected a third time, but the people spoke, and he’s our mayor. You get what you vote for. I’d like to see a park ranger try to issue a $50+ ticket to these two fellas…

  1. He thinks what’s good for him is good for he other 35,000,000 people who live here. A smoking ban…it’s outrageous! I am not even a smoker and it pisses me off so. He bought votes, he bought endorsements…his smarmy-ness and chutzpah know no bounds.

  2. I smoked my last cigarette in ’84 but the thought of cops giving a 75 year old man who may have served in Korea, a $50 ticket for sitting on a park bench, doing the same thing he’s been doing for 50 years is sick…

  3. Mr H…No smoking at any of NYCs parks. Even the benches on Broadway are controlled by the parks dept. No smoking at Coney Island either. Only on the already congested sidewalks where everybody smokes in front of their office bldgs…

  4. word up Matt, I used to puff two packs a day for decades, quit almost 7 years ago. I hate the stuff, dont like to breath it at all. However, I agree with you that you cant take away the peoples right to smoke outside . I agree thast it would be unaceptable for the NYPD to ticket peeps for smoking in public. I accept smoke free areas, and indoor bans but come on..outside???..or even in your home(uhh maybe..). Besides my girlfriend still smokes that crap.
