Photographing NYC for 25 years, six of them while driving a New York City taxi. Trying very hard to capture the city as life unfolds, meaning I never stage any of my photos! Also I am a close confidant of the immortal Dave Beckerman, (quintessential NYC photographer) and owner of the first photography blog in the known universe. View all posts by Matt Weber

Very nice…and it suitably defines “butch & femme” in a nutshell.
At first I didn’t think much of this one, but pictures can and do grow on you sometimes…
Yes, I agree, 100%. I am a novice photographer and I am trying to learn how to discern those particular photos…it is a huge temptation, when I shoot something I don’t like, to delete it immediately off the card before it reaches the processing stage, and I shudder to think what gems (not that I take so many gems) I have sent into cyber-oblivion.
One of film’s major advantages is that you can discover ‘gems” at a much later date and that you can review your failures as well. I have almost every terrible photo that I’ve taken over the past 25 years and it’s a drag to have to syphon through so much crap, but the gems make it worthwhile…
Matt,
Do the Coney Island book ! It will be a classic…….
Tony.
I hope to get a chance one day…Thanks so much!
