Photographing NYC for 25 years, six of them while driving a New York City taxi. Trying very hard to capture the city as life unfolds, meaning I never stage any of my photos! Also I am a close confidant of the immortal Dave Beckerman, (quintessential NYC photographer) and owner of the first photography blog in the known universe. View all posts by Matt Weber

Where was this taken? What was going on here? Rode the subway for many years; never saw a group this large doing anything down there.
Some really nice work here. Personally, I would never feel comfortable taking pictures in the subway. Would be interesting to hear about your technique and feelings about doing this.
Peter, These people probably came a long way to proselytize and I suppose they had a permit. Some days a bunch of Hassidic jews
come out and try and raise cash for their rabbi. I guess I just figured at one point I should just take the risk whenever I see something
because the feeling of having missed a good or great image tends to linger on and on…I still remember a few great moments that
I didn’t capture for various reasons, which still bother me twenty years later!
