“Upper West Side” 2011

I don’t get excited by snow anymore. My friend Dave hits Central Park and takes many a beautiful landscape of the snow laden branches of the suddenly pristine winter wonderland. Then he told me his biggest challenge in post-processing his pictures is, removing all the other photographers! This winter the snow piled up and lasted forever. There’s still December snow on some corners as we turn the calendar to March. I went out photographed all the crusty dirty snow and found that, “Black is still beautiful” even when it comes to frozen water…

“Mandatory Snow Picture” 2011

Even Dave Beckerman confided that he’s tired of all this snow, and then I notice that he couldn’t control himself and went to Central Park hunting for more snow pictures! In Dave’s defense, the only photographs which one will see on display in the stores that do framing, are pictures of New York covered in snow. As someone who actually makes a living selling prints, it would be financial suicide to ignore these picturesque moments in time. I’m just a big wimp and have maybe one snow mission left in me per year…

“Snow Brawl” 1988

I like looking at old work. I find stuff which I have no memory of at all. This was obviously taken on Central Park West. Snow was always a great treat for me when I was driving a cab. The people were grateful to get a ride, and the city was a winter wonderland. Late at night was great as there were very few other motorists on the streets. That’s why these guys could rumble in the middle of the avenue without fear of being run over…
