End of an Era

The 1950’s neon sign which was on west 87th St. for my whole life, has finally disappeared when  Shankmann’s cleaners closed a few moths ago…

“CANDY MAN” 1985

This was the last 1960’s taxi in NYC. He was known as “Candy Man” as he always carried a bag full of sweets to give to the kids who rode in his cab. ©Matt Weber
