If by some chance Mitt wins today, there’ll be quite a few old Poles rolling around in their graves tonight…

“1964 FALL OCCUPANCY” Times Sq. 1986
During the later years of Robert Moses New York lost Penn Station and that was a great loss. In or around 1962 this small and seemingly inconsequential building was also slated for demolition, but somehow survived for another quarter century! I was thrilled when I saw this sign predicting the demise of this small structure. Even if I felt like the little building was Davey vs. Goliath, it really was just a case of something old surviving against the odds for a few more years than it was suppose to…

Empire State Building 1986
The Empire State Building has always been the one for me. I know the Chrysler is more beautiful and the World Trade was taller, but this building has meant New York to me since I was a kid. This view was also important to me since as a child I always enjoyed reading all the names of the different countries on the round porcelain signs, which lined both sides of “The Avenue of the Americas”
A large signed print might not be a terrible Christmas gift (How’s that for a sales pitch?)
