Any New Yorker who paid attention to such things will remember “Babe’s” taxi fleet from Fort Lee N.J.

Photographing NYC for 25 years, six of them while driving a New York City taxi. Trying very hard to capture the city as life unfolds, meaning I never stage any of my photos! Also I am a close confidant of the immortal Dave Beckerman, (quintessential NYC photographer) and owner of the first photography blog in the known universe.

I drove for Babe’s back in the mid 70’s
My father, Babe, who is now driving taxis in Heaven (2008) got this idea while serving in World War II. After stationed in Pearl Harbor, he was sent to Australia and was picked up by a cab there. His business was started in 1948 in a small office on Lemoine Avenue on the Bridge Plaza. He is smiling down on us as his cabs are still seen around Fort Lee to this day. 🙂
