I remember being excited with this view as I wiggled back and forth behind this checker, trying to line up the Empire State Building for this image….Unfortunately I underexposed this frame badly and can’t get a great print / scan from this negative. This view was gone shortly thereafter as the new office building has blocked the majestic “ESB” and I guess I’m lucky to have this picture at all…

  1. FABULOUS!!! I like the composition, colours and, despite the exposition, the grain adds a lot to this image. I can feel like if I was arriving to the city and having this view (think what it means to a newcomer). Great shot!!!

  2. Santi, the 3200 Tmax had just hit the market and even though it alowed me to shoot at night, it made some daytime exposures very difficult in terms of controlling the
pronounced grain…Still, at the time it was a godsend for street photography!

  3. Hi Matt! WOW your work is amazing!! I’m doing a project based on Urban Landscapes for my A level in Photography and was wondering if you could email me a little bio about yourself??
    Thanks 😀
