Photographing NYC for 25 years, six of them while driving a New York City taxi. Trying very hard to capture the city as life unfolds, meaning I never stage any of my photos! Also I am a close confidant of the immortal Dave Beckerman, (quintessential NYC photographer) and owner of the first photography blog in the known universe. View all posts by Matt Weber

The military or police? I read the other day that many local state, city and municipal governments have placed their orders for drone aircraft. The article also mentioned the increase of tea baggin paramilitary groups in the mid-west and western states which are armed to the teeth. It’s a brave new world and as Huxley states in the preface “sanity is a rather rare phenomenon”.
Probably just cops…For special events like the republican convention in 2004 the feds brought in special guys from Massachusetts with real “Tommy guns” to protect the rich GOPers from all the rabblerousers…
THose guns look weird.
Yes I remember that, and if I remember correctly those rabblerousers who applied for permits with the city to demonstrate were put in cages at least three blocks away from the Garden during the convention.
Yes they were all cuffed with those plastic things which cut off almost all circulation and some people were on the verge of heat stroke…
Now they carry cameras?
I don’t know about the cameras, but I think they will eventually. The problem is they will also edit their “work” heavily and that will leave the results very much in their favor!
