  3. My mom (of blessed memory) used to take me with her in the early to mid-’80s when she attended classes at the CUNY Graduate Center near Bryant Park, so we passed through Times Square quite often when I was 8-, 9-, 10-years-old. I thought nothing of it then, and at that age probably didn’t know what sluts or orgies were anyhow. I know I hated Manhattan as a kid. It was always so hot and dirty. I just assumed that This Is The Way Things Are, and that This Is The Way Things Will Always Be. That said, it amazes me that such was the state of Times Square at that particular time, that those words could be so prominently emblazoned across a giant theater marquee. A real Pottersville, that was. I kind of miss it in a way.
